How a small enrichment program in Lake Tahoe inspired a platform for schools everywhere.
The Spark
A small enrichment program in Lake Tahoe was drowning in spreadsheets, paper forms, and manual payment tracking. Enrollment lived in a Google Sheet. Tuition reminders went out as individual emails. Parents had no single place to find schedules, sign forms, or pay their bill.
Built for One School
My Academy HQ was built for Tahoe Kids Academy, an enrichment program in South Lake Tahoe. The school needed enrollment, billing, communication, and a public website in one system. We looked at what was out there. Some tools covered pieces of the problem but nothing brought it all together, and the platforms that came close felt outdated and clunky. So we built our own.
From One to Many
What started as a custom tool grew into a platform. Enrollment workflows, automated invoicing, the drag-and-drop website builder, parent and teacher portals: every feature was tested in a real school before it was offered to anyone else.
Community-Driven
That starting point still shapes how we build. New features get validated against actual school operations, not hypothetical ones. Schools tell us what they need, and that feedback drives every release.
Meet Nemo
In 2026 we introduced Nemo, an AI assistant built into every part of the platform. Nemo drafts progress reports, imports data, builds website pages, and answers questions through natural conversation. It handles the repetitive work so educators can stay focused on their students.
